Kiwanis Club of West Vancouver Continues to Champion Janet’s Place
A warm and heartfelt thanks to the Kiwanis Club of West Vancouver for their generous $3,000 grant for Janet’s Place.
“The Kiwanis Club of West Vancouver, since its incorporation in 1947, has aspired to be a valued contributor of the West Vancouver community by supporting seniors’ housing and a wide range of social services,” says Ron Wood, the Kiwanis Club’s President. “The services provided by North Shore Crisis Services Society are critical to the well-being of our community, and we’re proud to have supported their efforts financially for many years.”
We are thrilled to recognize and extend our heartfelt thanks to the Kiwanis Club of West Vancouver (“Kiwanis Club”) for their generous $3,000 donation supporting Janet’s Place. As a valued and longstanding partner, the Kiwanis Club has been integral to our progress, contributing over $30,000 to our cause since their first donation.
The consistent support from partners like the Kiwanis Club not only provides vital financial resources but also enables us to plan our future with confidence. Their dedication ensures we can continue delivering essential services to women and families in need, helping them receive the safety and support they deserve.
The Difference that Janet’s Place Makes
Second-stage housing for domestic abuse survivors is crucial for several reasons:
Transitional Support: Janet’s Place offers a link between emergency shelters (like SAGE Transition House) and permanent housing. Survivors need time to recover and regain stability before securing long-term housing, and second-stage housing provides that essential transitional support.
Community: Families at Janet’s Place can stay in the community and remain close to their existing support network—friends, teachers, and important figures alike. By supporting our programs, you are ensuring that our families don’t have to face the aftermath of abuse alone.
Strength and Independence: While staying at Janet’s Place, residents have access to our programs and services, which aim to address the myriad ways that violence can impact a family. These resources help survivors heal and further develop the skills needed to achieve independence and build self-sufficient futures.
Overall, second-stage housing plays a key role in helping survivors move from crisis to stability, where support for the entire family is available and nearby.
Our heartfelt thanks
On behalf of everyone here at North Shore Crisis Services Society, thank you, Kiwanis Club of West Vancouver, for illuminating the path to brighter futures at Janet’s Place.
