Janet’s Place Honoured with $5,000 Grant from Face the World Foundation
At North Shore Crisis Services Society, we see the power of supportive community and safe housing every day. For women and families escaping violence, a safe place to rebuild is crucial. That’s where Janet’s Place comes in, and thanks to a generous $5,000 grant from the Face the World Foundation, we can continue offering this vital resource to those in need.
Why Second-Stage Housing Matters
Leaving an abusive situation is just the beginning for many women and children. The transition to independence requires time, resources, and a safe place to heal. Second-stage housing bridges the gap between crisis shelters and permanent housing, offering stability and opportunities to rebuild.
At Janet’s Place, families generally stay for up to 18 months, accessing secure accommodations, trauma-informed services, and programs that help them regain confidence and self-sufficiency. Yet, the demand for these services continues to grow, especially with the rising costs of living and housing in Metro Vancouver. This grant will go directly toward meeting these needs—providing essentials, maintaining safe facilities, and ensuring women and children have the support they need to start fresh,
