Thanks for your interest in working with NSCSS.
SAGE House is looking for a Casual Woman’s Advocate to occasional shifts at the transition house. Casual workers need to be available for some days, evenings, weekends and overnights. Residential experience and a feminist understanding of violence against women are key. See below for more information:
Gala of Grace
Any good fundraiser – – and the Gala of Grace is awesome, thanks for asking – – depends on the community for donations that can be featured in a silent auction. If you have a new item or service that you would like to donate to our annual fundraiser, please contact NSCSS Executive Director Laura Reynolds firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
Volunteering at the Good Stuff Connection Clothing Store & Program
The Good Stuff Connection Clothing Program ensures that clean, good quality clothing, shoes, personal items and small household goods donated by the public are provided free of charge to women and children staying at SAGE Transition House and to women, men and children referred by other community social services.
Volunteers at the Good Stuff Connection Clothing Store sort donations, price items, assemble care kits and steam clothing. Volunteers are asked to commit to 3 hours per week, and must be over the age of 16.
If you are interested in volunteering at the GSC, please drop by the store at 154 West 3rd, North Vancouver on Monday – Thursday during business hours and talk to Manisha.
Volunteering at SAGE House
We look for volunteers who can work one 4-hour shift a week. We have a schedule and the hours are during the day or early evening, Monday to Friday. Volunteers at the Transition House either cook, drive clients to appointments, clean, shop or do other day-to-day tasks. Right now, we are specifically looking for volunteers who are willing to cook one afternoon a week. Volunteers must be over the age of 19.
Please note that we do not have opportunities for volunteers to learn front line or clinical skills, or to work directly with our clients. Agencies such as Battered Women’s Support Services (bwss.org) or Women Against Violence Against Women (wavaw.ca) offer this experience.
If you are interested in volunteering at SAGE House, please email our Admin Manager Connie at email@example.com for more information
How To Give
Our donors make our services possible. Thank you!
Three Ways to Give
1. Make a Financial Donation!
A financial donation goes a long way in supporting women and children fleeing abuse. You can direct your donation to a specific program if you like.
Donate by clicking on the Donate Now icon on the left side of the page to give online through Canadahelps.org, mail a cheque to our Executive Director Laura Reynolds, or call us at:
North Shore Crisis Services Society
212- 145 East 15th Street
North Vancouver, BC V7L 2P7
2. Give us your time
We couldn’t do what we do without our fantastic volunteers. Click onto the “Job and Volunteer Opportunities” tab to find out if this is an opportunity for you!
3. Donate some “Good Stuff”
It’s called the Good Stuff Connection for good reason… Our donors give us great stuff! Much of what is donated goes either directly to SAGE Transition House or is “purchased” through our certificate program; our clients and the clients of fourteen community partner can shop for free through this certificate program. Other items are sold for reasonably prices at our store. All proceeds go directly back to NSCSS to support our programs.
Items we accept:
- clean, good quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing
- small household items such as dishes, pot and pans, etc
We do not accept:
- baby equipment
- anything electrical such as lamps or appliances
To donate items, bring them to:
