In 2017 Gary Born took part in the Iceland Challenge for Shelter. Participants spent a week trekking 115 kilometres through the Icelandic wilderness in support of their local women’s shelters. Once completed Gary presented North Shore Crisis Services Society with a donation of $5,244.00 for SAGE Transition House.
This year, Gary is going from ice to sand. In November he’s taking part in the Sahara Desert Challenge for Shelter in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and is hoping to present a donation of $10,000.00 to SAGE House.
“Over the course of 5 days, I will be hiking 100 km across difficult terrain in dry, hot desert temperatures that dip considerably at night. I will be sleeping outdoors in a large group tent, using camping-style bathroom facilities and going without electricity, cell service and other comforts of home”.
