In a confidential location on the North Shore, SAGE Transition House is an 18-bed home that provides a safe haven and compassionate support to women and their families leaving abuse.

At SAGE House, we work to ensure that women and their families have all their basic needs met, so they can focus on healing and consider next steps. We provide 18 fully furnished bedrooms for single women and family units. Food is available (including school and late-night snacks), and women are free to use the shared kitchen and dining spaces at any time. Our Women’s Advocates provide emotional support and advocacy to help women navigate the personal and practical challenges of leaving abuse. We work alongside each woman to connect them with resources that reflect their unique needs and goals, which may include financial assistance, childcare, counselling, legal aid, housing, multicultural programs, and other community services.

Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Women can call our helpline at any time, whether they need someone to talk, find help with immediate safety concerns, or ask questions or explore options.

Each year, our teams receive training to strengthen our foundation to:

  • Assess risk and address barriers to safety

  • Respond to abuse and sexual assault

  • Navigate housing solutions

  • Coordinate emergency service

  • Create a tailored, personalized safety plan

Sexual Assault Response Program (SARP)

Delivered in partnership with the Family Services of the North Shore, SAGE Transition House provides after-hours phone assistance to help ensure survivors of sexual violence can access support, 24 hours a day.
